Ayurveda (the science of life) has been practiced in the Indian subcontinent for over 5000 years and is the oldest system of holistic medicine in existence which is increasingly becoming more popular in the West.
In Ayurveda the word ‘Svāsthya’ is the Sanskrit term for health, and it translates as being rooted in the self. The term ‘Svāsthya’ is comprised of two Sanskrit roots: sva (‘self’) and stha (‘to be situated in’ or ‘as you are’). It can be understood as a self-abiding state, in which body and mind are at ease in natural harmony.
Ayurveda believes that health is determined not only by the physical body; mental, emotional, and spiritual energetic states must also be taken into consideration. In order to remain in good health the three doshas (energies based on the five elements that define every person’s makeup) must be in harmony. These doshas are known as Vata, Pitta, and Kapha which are based on the five elements of air, earth, space, water, and fire. According to Ayurveda a person’s dosha is the dynamic principle that determines their personality and health.
At Svasthya, I am committed to providing my clients with the highest level of expertise and professionalism. I am a qualified massage therapist, trained in traditional Indian techniques, which have been passed down through generations of my family and also in the latest techniques and trends, ensuring that you receive a combination of modalities, tailored specifically to suit you and your requirements with a view of providing the best possible holistic care.
My treatments are based on extensive research and my own personal experience and follow the principles of Ayurveda, initially assessing your mind-body type (your dosha) through a short questionnaire. I am then able to tailor your products and massage aiming to specifically restore your body’s natural harmony.
My name is Tina, I am a married mum of 2 and a full time, Senior Commercial Manager for the NHS, I am a Mental Health First Aider, Mentor and Menopause Ambassador, and worked for the organisation for 11 years. After catching Covid at the height of the pandemic and being in very poor health for quite some time, I embarked upon a more spiritual path which led me to research more about my Indian roots, traditions and practices. Over the last 4 years I have been studying various modalities of holistic health and wellbeing to support my own mental health and recovery from Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Type 2 diabetes and high cholesterol and Long Covid and to ease Peri-Menopause symptoms. Believe me when I say I have tried and tested everything and found the only thing that has healed me, has been a combination of Western Medicine to help me survive and Indian Ayurvedic medicine, practices and techniques, along with a healthy diet, exercise and life style change, which has enabled me to come off the majority of my medications and thrive!
Trained in the ancient traditional art of Ayurvedic Massage, Aromatherapy and as a Certified Master of Herbs and Spices and Alternative Healing Therapist, I use a combination of traditional massage oils and 100% pure essential oils and ground ayurvedic herbs, which are freshly blended in-house to maximize the health advantages for clients. I use only the highest quality, authentic products in all of my treatments, ensuring that you receive the best possible results. My products are carefully quality controlled and sourced from the UK, India and Sri Lanka and selected and blended by hand, to meet the unique needs of each client. All products are natural, organic, ethically sourced and cruelty-free.
Relax and rejuvenate with my luxurious treatments, including massages, facials, and more and be treated in my own little sanctuary. The Ayurvedic practice of abhyanga (oil massage), touts physical benefits such as the releasing of muscle tension and eases stress.
